Job Overview: Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller is a key role within the Finance Department, responsible for overseeing all accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the bank’s financial reporting. This position plays a critical role in maintaining regulatory compliance, managing internal controls, and supporting strategic financial initiatives. The Controller leads the preparation of financial statements, regulatory filings, and audits in accordance with GAAP, FDIC, and other banking regulatory requirements. In addition, the Controller works closely with executive leadership to provide financial insights, manage risk, and ensure strong fiscal governance. This role requires a deep understanding of banking operations, regulatory frameworks, and accounting standards specific to the financial services industry.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage & train direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the company.
- Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions.
- Accurately produces all monthly and quarterly reports on a timely basis.
- Prepares the quarterly consolidated financial statements and call report.
- Assists in the annual budget process.
- Prepares the collateral reports for the Federal Home Loan Bank.
- Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements.
- Coordinating activities of external auditors.
- Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process.
- Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.
- Develops and maintains professional knowledge of and ability to understand and implement banking regulations and GAAP in the Banking industry.
- Evaluating accounting and internal control systems.
- Oversight of regulatory reporting.
- Other duties as necessary.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, required.
- Five (5) or more years of related experience and/or training
- Experience in Financial Institutions and/or public accounting is preferred, but not required.
- CPA License is preferred, but not required.

Pay Range: $100k - $120k/annual. Starting pay is determined based on several factors, which can include the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and geographic area.
